Basic Marker Maintenance

Sometimes your gun has problems that seem really complex, but many times these problems arise from lack of proper maintenance. The simplest upkeep of your gun is the use of oil. Don't try your daddy's household oil. Buy the 1 oz bottles from a paintball company. They are only $2.50 and 1 bottle of oil usually lasts over 1 year.
I recommend doing this one time a week: drop 4 to 8 drops of oil in the ASA adapter (the piece where your co2/N2 goes into.) Don't forget to take off your barrel. Then gas up the gun and fire about 30 shots of air through the gun. This spreads the oil throughout the entire gun. You might be asking yourself: why do you take off the barrel? The answer is getting oil down the barrel makes the paintballs curve or hook. I have seen guns last incredibly long with simple upkeep as this.
Another tip that seems like common sense, but many people don't do it is: take your gun apart after every time you play. The sooner you do this the better. I know, you get home from a long day of paintballing and you just don't feel like cleaning your gun out. I do this too. The longer you let the paint set, the worse it is for the gun. Use paintball oil and oil up all the internals. You don't have to "coat" a part, 1 to 2 drops is usually sufficient. Then use your finger to spread the oil all over the part. Make sure to oil the bolt pretty heavily, especially where there is considerable wear.
These simple tips keep your gun running at peak performance, give your marker extra life, and overall give the user a better time on the field.
