Storing Paintballs

Question: How long do paintballs usually last for?

Answer:  If properly cared for, paintballs can be purchased and expected to last for 2 to 3 months.

Question:  What is the ideal storage temperature?

Answer:  The ideal storage is about 70° degrees with no more than 50% humidity.  I usually add anti-moisture packets to the paintball bags.  I believe it adds to their useful life.

Question:  Where should paintballs be stored?

Answer:  You should store your paintballs in a cool dry place and out of direct sunlight.

Question:  Which places should be avoided when storing paintballs?

Answer:  You should also keep them away from a heater.  Too much heat will cause the paintballs to deform and will cause accuracy to decrease.  Also keep your paintballs away from excessive cold temperatures. Never freeze your paintballs.  Paintball masks are not meant to stop frozen paintballs.  Also, paintballs that have been exposed to freezing temperatures will have weak shells and cause high barrel breakage to occur.

Question:  Between paintball outings, what should I do with the paintballs?

Answer:  Make sure that you keep your paintballs in their bags. When you are not using the paintballs make sure the bags are sealed properly.

Question:  How should I store my paintballs while I am playing paintball?

Answer:  When going to and from the field remember to never keep your paintballs in the car/trunk of your car and to never keep them in direct sunlight.

Tip for getting rid of dimples:

Open their bags and let them sit for a little while letting the paintballs be exposed to REGULAR room temperature.  This may help them to regain their normal state.  Reseal the bags after dimples have disappeared.

*I would call the paintball store where I purchased the paintballs from if they came in dimpled or wet.  You never know what will happen, they may tell you to ship them back for an exchange.
